Tenth Street is honored to host Travis L. Summerlin, Ph.D. for his fourteenth consecutive year as our pastor. Travis brings a fresh, imaginative perspective to his work, finding creative new ways to share the Good News and encourage others to persevere in their service to God and one another.
Before entering full-time ministry as an elder of the United Methodist Church, Travis earned his Ph.D. in religion, with an emphasis in church history, at Baylor University. His sermons reflect deep historical insight, and he has become well-known in the Taylor community for his highly informative, full-costumed historical monologues. Our congregation looks forward to annual “visits” from such eminent individuals as Martin Luther, St. Nicholas, St. Patrick, Gen. Douglas MacArthur, and the Roman Centurion of Mark’s crucifixion narrative (among others).
Travis is highly involved in the Taylor Ministerial Alliance. He is a lifelong collector of G.I. Joe memorabilia, an avid film goer, and a doting cat “father” to his adopted cat, Minnie.
